United on a train...

  English public transport is always an experience. Whatever time of day, no matter what type of people are in the same cabin, I always feel I'm shouting on the phone even if I'm uttering but a whisper! No matter how I'm feeling, in the happiest of moods, I always feel I look like the world is against me (probably the bored looks on everyone else's face rubbing off). And no matter how organised I am with my schedule, I always find myself sprinting for at least one of the trains.

  But whilst travelling the other day to London, I found that trains can be eye openers, too. Think I'm weird? Listen up...

  I was in a small cabin, with no more than 10 people with me...the announcement came that the train was about to depart and the doors were shutting. All was well until we found that our door was a 'wrongun' ! It shut half way, then clattered a bit, making a racket that could not be tolerated at 1 AM on a Saturday night, let alone 9 o'clock on a Sunday morning. It did this for about 5 seconds before we all started getting rather p***** off!! The couple sitting next to this irritable door, found that standing IN it, keeping it open, stopped the dreadful clatter. After 5 minutes of the fella standing there, his beloved girlfriend took over so that he could sit down. Then the lovely elderly lady took her place, and over the course of the journey we all took turns, even the posh snob with his briefcase and suit, looking at us as if we were from the gutter, had his fair share!

  So, there we have it, a bunch of English strangers, who didn't know of each others existence before this journey, from all different backgrounds, EVEN A RICH BUSINESSMAN , all lumped together in order to make everyone have a better journey. Wasn't that lovely? The small things in life can teach you valuable lessons as well! United on a train...

Merry Fauxmas and a Happy New Year!

I love the festive season and everything that comes with it. Joyful faces, hilarious panics to get everything you need when in reality the only thing you cannot forget is the turkey, the parties, the food...even the music doesn't get on my nerves too much. Then, each year when it's all over, that one day, I think to myself - really? I was wandering around Waitrose the day after Boxing Day and laughed at how quiet and empty it was compared to Christmas Eve. The shelves full of reductions because they've obviously panic-ordered too. The calmness that filled the shop and how much time has passed - two days?   Happiness is time spent with your friends and with your family. It is time spent laughing and time spent dancing. It is time spent asleep and time spent awake. It is time spent reminiscing...  Have I yet mentioned money?
